Admission Requirements for the Doctoral Program

General Conditions for Admission to the Doctoral Program

• The applicant for the Doctoral program must hold a Master’s degree in the same specialization from a recognized university. The College Council (based on the recommendation of the Department Council) may add other necessary conditions it deems appropriate.

• A student may be accepted in a different specialization from their previous academic degree based on a recommendation from the Department Council and in accordance with the conditions it sets.

• The concerned department may require the student to complete a number of prerequisite (bridging) courses from the previous stage, provided that:

  • The duration of these prerequisite courses does not exceed two academic semesters.
  • Each prerequisite course must be passed on the first attempt with a grade no less than “Good.”
  • The cumulative GPA of the prerequisite courses must not be less than “Good.”

• Registration in the Doctoral program is not allowed until the student has passed all the prerequisite courses. However, the department may allow registration in postgraduate courses if only one prerequisite course remains.

• The duration of the prerequisite courses is not counted within the total period required to obtain the degree.

• The prerequisite courses are not included in calculating the cumulative GPA for the graduate program. For specializations that require proficiency in English for admission, applicants must submit a valid TOEFL or IELTS score, or an equivalent test result. Students are exempted from this requirement if they hold a degree from a university where the language of instruction is English or if they pass the English proficiency test specified by the college.
